Kelly Stokes, MSPT
Hi, I’m Kelly Stokes. I have been working as a physical therapist in outpatient orthopedics for 15+ years. As a former athletic trainer as well, I have a strong interest in musculoskeletal medicine. I graduated from the the University for Wisconsin - La Crosse with a bachelors degree in Exercise and Sports Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training, in 2000. At that time I passed the national certification exam to become a certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). I then graduated from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse with a masters of science degree in Physical Therapy (MSPT), in 2002.
Over the past 15+ years as a physical therapist I have taken coursework to become specialized in treating overhead athletes and performing arts medicine (dance, gymnastics, cheerleading, figure skating, etc). I maintained my athletic training certification for 12 years, strengthening my interest in sports medicine, but ultimately decided to focus my energy solely on physical therapy.
I have a passion for patient education, and I believe this is one of the keys to success in physical therapy, for both the patient and the therapist. Patients that understand their diagnosis and prognosis are much more likely to comprehend what they need to do themselves in order feel better and be compliant with their plan of care. I empower my patients to take charge of their own care, using me as an expert guide to help them achieve their personal physical therapy goals.
I am married to Frank and we have 3 children together. We enjoy being active and being outdoors. I love to spend time camping, hiking, kayaking and just having fun! My goal in life is to make time for my family, my friends, and myself.
