When was the last time you experienced peace? Maybe when your scary medical report came up as nothing, you were on a beach in the Carribean, or you experienced the precious-but-rarely-done walk through the woods without your cell phone. Now a harder question - when was the last time you experienced peace at work?
The glaring lack of peace in America.
Are you stuck with a job that feels more and more like time-keeping, goal-tending, or fire-fighting? Do you come home defeated, frustrated or just plain sad. Does home offer some solace? Or is that a source of contention as well: kids endless soccer practices and games, late night computer work, stress to get dinner on the table at least once or twice a week before succumbing to the all-too-easy drive-thru. Why is everyone around here so stressed out? Do you ask yourself why are the Alabama lyrics are your marching song:
I’m in a hurry to get things done; so I rush and rush until life’s no fun.
All I really want to do is live and die and I’m in a hurry and don’t know why
As a devout believer in Jesus Christ for the last 18 years, I learned that daily time with Jesus, preferably an hour before the sun comes up, much like He did (Mark 1:35), reduced the hurry to a slow, peace-filled stream. I was called to the mission field shortly after this lesson with a distinct scripture that jumped out of the page and into my spirit-
“Heal the sick that are there and declare the Kingdom is near.” Luke 10:9.
The tree roots that reach The Water.
I am currently writing this blog from a hotel room in Cusco, Peru. I have joined a team of physical therapist specialists in the Mechanical Care Everywhere vision: to provide and equip patients and therapists with Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). Essentially, to “heal the sick…” The mission field continues to call me because The Lord uses it to fill me with His Peace:
“For I am like the tree whose roots reach The Water, whose branches are refreshed with the dew.” Job 29:19
“Let my teachings fall on you like rain; let My Speech settle like dew. Let My Words fall like rain on tender grass, like gentle showers on young plants.” Deut 32:2
“They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit…”Psalm 1:3
“Blessed are those who trust in The Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. They are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
Gone are my days of defeat. The days of frustration. Gone is the hurry. It is now Jesus, who always points (when I pay attention!!) to the needs of Others, which subsequently fills You up to overflow with J.O.Y. and peace. And on and on it continues!
Join us!! And watch your rapids turn to gentle waters. www.mechanicalcareeverywhere.com
